Lakshmi Beeja Mantra Shreem Extended Explanation

Shreem mantra was explained in an earlier post where we saw that it is the seed of prosperity. This seed mantra is also called Lakshmi bija as that is what this great goddess signifies. Devi Lakshmi signifies all that is auspicious. She is said to be the royalty of kings. She personifies grandeur of the universe. Not only mortals but gods also seek her favour.

Most people equate wealth with Lakshmi. But it is not so. One sees many a rich men who are not happy with life. They remain discontented and do not find peace of mind. Why is this so? This is because they may have money but there is not Lakshmi there. It is like they are eating plastic fruits that are with no essence. So goddess of prosperity is the essence of all that is good and not just money. If you pursue Lakshmi just for money then you have missed the point. Actually you are not worshiping the goddess. That is why fulfillment remains elusive for many regardless of how much money they may make. Pursue Lakshmi and you will find all that is good comes to you.

The basic idea behind this seed is abundance, increase. Using this bija mantra, one can increase financial prosperity or the abundance of friendship or health. Shrim is the core of Shri Lakshmi. It is said that she is the most beautiful goddess and so this mantra is for beauty and joy too. She is the power that glows. Her seed sound is used to invoke her with all her qualities.

Kleem Mantra Extended Explanation

Kleem bija or kamabija as it is known in tantra was explained in an earlier post. In this post, I will go deeper into the meaning of this mantra.

Tantra says that whole universe is the play of Siva and Shakti. While Shiva stands for the supreme consciousness that is whole in itself and so does not require to reach out to do or manifest anything. It is practically inert. What makes the manifestation possible is another part of it called Shakti. Anthropomorphically, she is known as Devi Parvati as the consort of Mahesvara Siva. She inspires him to create. She is kama, desire, passion, power personified. It is because of her power the universe is manifested in all its glory. That is why in Saundaryalahiri, venerable Sri Sankarasharaya has said that without Shakti, Shiva is unable even to stir.

Now Kleem beej is the sound body of that power, that goddess who is behind all creation. That is why this seed mantra can be used to attract anything in the material universe. Some are of view that this mantra is used to attract women in particular. While it is true, that does not explain this mantra fully. Klim acts as a attracting and consolidating force that increases the attracting power of the chanter. Now it depends on what one wants to attract deep in heart. Thus we can say that this mantra is to attract what one desires.
